Alvin L. Burkhart, 94, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2013 in Franklin Grove, IL. Alvin was born November 27, 1919 in Steward, IL to Raymond and Sophia (Hanke) Burkhart. He married Lucile M. McCann on May 7, 1941 on the family farm in Steward. Alvin was a life long farmer in the West Brooklyn area, and also had worked at Crest Foods. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rochelle.

Alvin was preceded in death by his wife, Lucile, on February 23, 2002, his great granddaughter, Annette Lauer; his infant brother: Albert; brother: Harold Burkhart, and sister: Evelyn Waters.

Alvin is survived by his two sons: Roger (Linda) Burkhart of Spring Valley, MN and Duane (Joyce) Burkhart of Dixon, IL; two daughters: Glenayce (Jim) Spangler of Franklin Grove, IL and Phylis (Barry) Casey of Rochelle, IL; 14 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, two nephews: Dennis Burkhart, and Bob Waters.

Funeral services will be at10 AM on Friday December 6, 2013 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rochelle with Pastor Greg Hoffmann officiating. The visitation will be Friday from 9 - 10 AM prior to the funeral. Burial is at the Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made to the Ashton Fire Department.
