Archie King Eyster, 87, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at Manor Court of Rochelle with his family by his side. Archie was born on August 21, 1938 to B. Kenneth and Ethel (Rippentrop) Eyster in Rockford, IL. In 1956, he graduated from Rochelle Township High School. On May 28, 1960, he married Glenda Kay Nachtigall at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rochelle.
Archie farmed in the King’s area for many years and then took on a small trucking business until his retirement in 2017. He was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where he served on many committees. He enjoyed hunting and fishing most of his life, especially big game hunting out west and in Canada. Most of all, Archie enjoyed being with his family. He attended every event of his boys and his grandchildren. He had a child or grandchild in St. Paul Lutheran School for 50 consecutive years.
In addition to his parents, Archie is preceded in death by his sister, Maxine (Tom) Fegers; brother, Marvin (Joanne) Eyster; nephew, T.G. Fegers; and niece, Teena Bennett.
Archie is survived by his wife of 66 years, Glenda, of Rochelle; four sons: Tim (Carol) Eyster of Vassar, MI, Scott (Julie) Eyster, Kris (Janet) Eyster both of Rochelle and Ben (Alyssa) Eyster of Chana, IL; sister, Shirley Garnett of Florida; 12 grandchildren: Nicholas Eyster, Katherine Burrows, Brian Eyster, Aaron and Nathan Eyster, Keith, Kevin, Kelsi and Kyle Eyster, Michael, Matthew and Andrew Eyster; and three great grandsons: Grady, Gavin and Maddox.
The memorial visitation will be from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M., Monday, July 27, 2026 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1415 10th Avenue, Rochelle. The memorial service will follow at 11:00 A.M., Monday with Pastor Mike Gudgel officiating. The burial will be at 2:30 P.M., Monday at White Rock Cemetery, Kings, IL.
