Arden Ropert Varner, 84, of Oregon, IL passed away at the Franklin Grove Nursing Home in
Franklin Grove, IL on October 19, 2009. He was born on April 26, 1925 in Rochelle, the son of Ropert Roosevelt and Lauretta Augsta (Robbins) Varner. Arden graduated from Rochelle Township High School in 1943. In August of 1943 he enlisted in the United States Navy at the Great Lakes Navel Center in Illinois. He was honorably discharged in March of 1946. The summer of 1954 he moved to Phoenix Arizona where he worked for Air Research and General Electric until the fall of 1966. At which time he moved to Lanark, IL where he worked as a civilian for the United States Army in Savanna, IL until his retirement in 1988. Arden was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lyons Club, V.F.W. and the Am-Vets. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers: Dean Edmond Varner in 1935 and Russell Wayne Varner in 1969.
Survivors include his companion, whom he made his home with: Edith Whitney of Franklin Grove, IL

Paul D. (Shirley) Varner of Comanche, IA
3 grandchildren: Charlotte Larson, Julie Parish, and Robert Paul Varner.

A memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 23, 2009 at the Emmanual Lutheran Church of Paynes Point with Rev Joanne Adrain officitating.
Memorials to Alzheimers Disease and Related Disordersor the Emmanual Lutheran Church. Cremation rites were arranged by Unger-Horner Funeral Home, with inurnment at Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle.
