ARLENE K. VANDERPOOL, age 80, went to be with the Lord on January 21, 2009 with her family by her side at the Franklin Grove Nursing Center. She was born on June 1, 1928 in Lafayette Township, Ogle County, the daughter of Clare and Luella Reitz Reed. Arlene married Carroll E. Vanderpool on August 19, 1961 in Rochelle, he preceded her on February 18, 2004. She farmed, worked at Swift and Company and as a cook at the Rochelle Community Hospital before retiring. Member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church. She was also preceded in death by her son, Randy Rowley on July 4, 2007 and step daughter, Glenda Cultra on October 12, 1997.

Survivors include 2 daughters: Connie (Ricardo) Rosas of Rochelle
Bonnie (Brian) Smith of Jonesboro, Ark.
Daughter in law: Lois Rowley of Rochelle
2 brothers: Wayne Reed of Rochelle
Melvin (Alice) Reed of Rochelle
2 step-sons: Michael Vanderpool of Holcomb
Richard (Claudia) Vanderpool of Rockford
step-daughter: Carol Anne (Emmett) Capes of Rochelle
8 grandchildren, 7 step grandchildren
6 great grandchildren, 6 step great grandchildren

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 on Friday, January 23, 2009 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Rochelle with Rev. Gregg Hoffman officiating.

Visitation will be on Friday from 10 to 11:00 AM prior to the service at the Church.

Memorial to the St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Burial at the Trinity Memory Cemetery.
