Barbara Jean Phillips, 90, formerly of Holcomb, IL; passed away on Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010
at Adams Street Place in Jefferson City, MO. She was born on April 16, 1920 in Benton, IL
to William R. and Esther (McCracken) Stoune. Barbara graduated from Milliken University in Decatur, IL and was a social worker for the State of IL Division of Family Services for 30 years.
She married John Hubert Phillips who preceded her in death on Aug. 9, 1969. She was also preceded by her parents; step mother: Anne Stoune; daughter: Sandra Sue Kivikko; grandson: Ron Tittle; and a sister: Betty Lou Sand. Barbara enjoyed sewing, stitchery, cooking, reading and knitting. She had a passion for life and everything it had to offer, including loving children,
collecting things, loving her family, traveling - especially those "side trips", white water rafting
entertaining the multitudes around her dining room table, crafting mittens, dishcloths, baby blankets, "premie" caps and so much more . . . Most importantly her strong faith and commitment to God's service was evident in all she did.
Survivors include son: John David (Georgia) Phillips of Fresno, CA; daughter: Martha Ann (John) Spann of New Bloomfield, MO;11 grandchildren: Renee Kivikko Fink, Steve Kivikko, Philip Hutchraft, Melinda Eberhardt, Jarrett Eberhardt; Johnny Phillips, Cheryl Thomas, Rene Wood, Hank Tittle, John E.Spann, and JoAnn Spann; 28 great grandchildren: and 8 great great grandchildren.
Services will be held on Monday, Nov. 8, 2010 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Brett Todd at Unger-Horner Funeral Home in Rochelle, IL. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 PM on Sunday, Nov. 7th at
Unger-Horner. Burial at White Rock Cemetery in Kings, IL.
