Barbara Ann (Parker) Rossi passed away peacefully surrounded by family members on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Holy Spirit Retirement Home in Sioux City, Iowa. Barbara was born to Frank Downs Parker and Angela (Serochi) Parker on December 16, 1933. The early years of her life were spent in Rutland, Illinois until moving to Oglesby in the late 1930's. She attended school in Oglesby and graduated from LaSalle-Peru High School in 1951. In 1952, she was married to Michael F. Rossi in Oglesby.

In 1956, Barbara moved with Michael to Rochelle, Illinois and continued to live in Rochelle until the death of her husband in 2012. Barbara was a longtime pharmacy assistant at Hayes Drug Store and later for Walmart working for the latter until her retirement. Barbara was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church for more than 55 years. During her life, she was active in the Altar and Rosary Society, The Red Hat Society and the VFW Auxiliary. She devoted countless hours of volunteer work to a number of organizations in the community including the Rochelle Hospital Auxiliary. In her later years, she enjoyed sharing time with family, particularly her son Mark of Sioux City and four grandchildren: Anthony Rossi, Amanda Harris, Michael Rossi and Marisa Rossi, all of Sioux City, Iowa. She is survived by her son, her four grandchildren and a brother, Francis Parker of Joliet, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Angela Parker and Michael Rossi her husband of 59 years.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. The funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, December 14, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 207 Kelley Drive, Rochelle with Father Johnson Lopez officiating.
