Lindenwood

Barton S. Burch, 96, passed away in his home Tuesday, November 5, 2013. He was born January 31, 1917 in Rockford, Illinois to Willard and Georgie (Somers) Burch. Barton married Helen G. Jones on February 4, 1939 in Seaton, Illinois. He was a farmer his entire life, farming for 64 years on the same farm in the Lindenwood area. He also was a co-owner of Burch and Carmichael Trucking in Rochelle. Barton is preceded in death by his first wife, Helen, on May 29, 1975 and his brother John in 2003.

Barton is a member of Kiwanis and the Monroe Center Community Church. He served on the Holcomb State Bank Board of Directors for 62 years of which he was Chairman of the Board for over 30 years.

Barton is survived by his wife, Edna, two sons: Ken (Lynn) of Lindenwood and Ben (Pat) of Rochelle; four grandchildren: Alana (David) Bergeson, Renee (Justin) Miller, Sarah (Michael) Wiseman and Adam Burch and four great grandchildren: Ezekiel and Isaiah Bergeson, Helen Miller and Braden Wiseman.

Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle with Reverend Robert Mellon officiating. The visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M., Friday, November 8. Burial will be at the Lindenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Serenity Hospice and Home.
