Bernita D. Terviel Hawkins, formerly of Chana and Oregon, IL, passed away on Monday, Aug. 25, 2008 at her home in Mt. Morris. She was born on April 5, 1919 in Ogle Co., IL the daughter of Rhynie and Esther (Hoffman) Schumacher. Bernita married Robert Lee Rasmussen on June 24, 1939 and he preceded her on March 18, 1944. She married Bernard H. Terviel on Dec. 27, 1944 and he preceded her on April 25, 1977. She was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Paynes Point, IL.

Survivors include a son: Darrell Terviel of Rockford, IL; brother: Waynes "Tack" (Nancy) Schumacher of Oregon, IL; nieces and nephews: Connie Schumacher of Ashton, Dawn Pankhurst of Mt. Morris, Ron Schumacher of Foreston, Wesley Schumacher of Virignia Beach, VA and Bradley (Sherry) Schumacher of Mt. Morris; Great nieces and nephews: Joe Harris, Jodi Goeddeke, Amy Gilbert, Michael Gilbert, Kristinia Schumacher, Ryan Schumacher, Logan Schumacher, Corey and Nick Pankhurst; 3 great great nephews: Waylon Harris, Paxton Laurent, and Xavier Goeddeke.

Services at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Paynes Point on Thursday, Aug.28, 2008 at 10:00 AM
with Rev. Joanne Adrain. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral at the church at 9:00 Thursday. Burial at Monroe Center Cemetery. Memorials to Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Paynes Point.
