Rochelle
Betsy Jean Hill, 70, of Rochelle, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon, IL. Betsy was born March 8, 1944 to Harold M. And Doris (Wood) Johnson in Rochelle. She was a loving and caring first grade teacher for 38 years of which most of those were at Central School in Rochelle. Many students and fellow teachers were positively impacted by Betsy and the incredible educator and role model that she was. She received her master's degree from National Louis University in 1990. Betsy was a member of the Illinois Retired Teachers Association, Rochelle Lions Club and the First Presbyterian Church in Rochelle. She married Tom Hill on July 24, 2005 in Kings, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Robert O. Palmer.

Betsy is survived by her husband, Tom, brother, Larry D. Johnson, of Naperville, IL, sister-in-law, Deloris Palmer of St. Louis, MO, two nieces: Pamela Patton of St. Louis, MO and Celine Johnson of Naperville; two nephews: Robert (Denise) Palmer of Dallas, TX and Tad Johnson of Yorkville, IL; two great nieces: Katherine and Stella and one great nephew, Benjamin.

The funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 15, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church of Rochelle with Pastor Doug Forsberg officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Unger Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. Memorials may be made to Rochelle High School Alumni Association, Firstt Presbyterian Church of Rochelle or Serenity Hospice and Home.
