Betty Jean Cardot, 87, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away Friday, March 11, 2016 in Rockford, Illinois with her family at her side. Betty was born January 26, 1929 to Jake and Gladys (Rush) Arjes in Compton, IL. Betty graduated from Lee Center High School, Class of 1946. She married Wilbur J. Cardot on April 1, 1946 in Compton, IL, he preceded her in death on April 18, 1990. Prior to retiring, Betty worked at Avery Dennison for 35 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 5 brothers, 2 sisters, and her daughter, Mary Schabacker. Betty loved and lived for the First Baptist Church. She also enjoyed making pies, quilting and gardening.

Betty is survived by her daughter: Vicki (Terry) Pickett of Roscoe; two sons: Arthur (Rhonda) Cardot of Ashton and Jeff (Jeanine) Cardot of Naperville; 15 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Helen Davis, and Pat Wyatt; brother: Richard (Carolyn) Arjes; 2 sisters-in-law: Alice Arjes and Judy Arjes; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be 11:00 A.M., Monday, March 14, 2016 at the Unger Horner Funeral Home, 400 N 6th St., Rochelle with Pastor Doug Cowan officiating. The visitation will be from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. on Monday prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow at Melugin Grove Cemetery in Compton, IL.
