Betty K. Gocken, 79, passed away at her home on Saturday, July 2, 2016. She was born October 18, 1936 in Rochelle, the daughter of Clifford "Jack" and Marjorie (Buzard) King. She married Gilbert H. Gocken on June 6, 1954 in Monroe Center, IL, one week after her high school graduation.

She was very involved in her social, civic, religious and Republican events, volunteering her time where needed, even if not physically able, helping anyway possible. She was always dressed for the occasion. She never left the house without her lipstick, perfume and jewelry. Betty and Gilbert's time was spent dancing, bowling, playing cards, traveling extensively and spending time at their second home at the lake, making memories with family and friends. One of her proudest accomplishments, other than her family, was spending 22 years serving on the Ogle County Board, as chairman the last four years.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert, parents, infant sister, Dixie and great-granddaughter, Charlie.

She is survived by four children: Scott (Misty Schmidt) Gocken of Fond Du Lac, WI and his children: Alan Gocken and his sons, Connor and Noah and their mother, Sara Gocken, Melissa (Dustin) Chitwood and her children, Kaysie, Lyric and Myla; Gary (Colleen) Gocken of Aurora, IL and his children: Kathy Gocken, Angie Stein, and Danielle, Caitlin and Brendan Montgomery; Brad (Melinda) Gocken of Lindenwood, IL and his children: Daniel Gocken and Bailey Gocken and her son Nicholas Gocken; Lisa Gocken of Rochelle, IL and her children: Jennifer Vandre and Brittney (Brad Bollman) Vandre; sister, Sue Beaver of Rockford, IL; special friend, Susan Duffy and caregivers: Kay, Tuya, Gana and Donna.
