Betty Jean Harris, 85, left her earthly body to join the Lord, and her husband Lee, on Thursday, May 28, 2020. Born December 9, 1934 in Rochelle, Illinois; she was the daughter of Frank and Flava (Hardesty) Kalk. She married her love and best friend, Lelland "Lee" Leroy Harris on April 7, 1956 in Rochelle, IL. Betty attended school in Rochelle, IL and later, also graduated from Kishwaukee College when she was 59 years old. She held different jobs in Rochelle throughout her years including working as a telephone operator and many years at Caron's Yarn where her granddaughters have fond memories of helping to run the annual picnic. Betty was a long time active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Rochelle. She and Lee were members of the Rochelle Square Dancing Club for many years. Betty enjoyed making ceramics and painting and watching professional ice skating on TV. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and spoiling her grandkids, including "camping out" with them by sleeping in the bed of the pickup truck in the back yard. She was lovingly known as "gram" and "GG". Surviving are her precious daughter, Lynnette Stover of Rochelle; son, Mark Harris of Chicago; devoted brother James (Charlotte) Kalk of Sycamore, IL; beloved grandchildren, Amanda (Jeff) Tilton of Rochelle, Lydia Stover of Rochelle, Cassandra Harris of Rochelle, and Mark Harris, Jr. of Wisconsin; and adored great-grandchildren Cecillia Stover, Cody Stover-Cullum, Parker Hale, and Payton Hale; and her special dog 'Holly Harris'. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters, and 4 brothers. Her family would like to thank Dr. Nancy Williams and the staff at Franklin Grove Nursing Home for the loving care they have provided to Betty and her family. A private service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Rochelle.
