Betty E. Lawson, age 89, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 in Ft. Walton Beach FL. She was born on September 26, 1928 in Vandalia, IL the daughter of Earl and Evelyn (Hubler) Wasser. She married Henry Ward Lawson on March 8, 1950. He preceded her in death on January 31, 1999. In addition to her parents, Betty is also preceded in death by a sister, Doris McMillan.

Betty loved spending time with her family, gardening and arranging flowers. She enjoyed listening to music and her radio was always on. She found joy in bettering herself by studying health foods, natural remedies and vitamins.

Betty is survived by her children Gary D. (Margaret "Maggie") Lawson of Fort Walton Beach, FL and Rhonda Dianne (John) Gentry of Ridgefield, CT; four grandchildren: Eric (Erin) Lawson, Raegan (Noah) Carmichael, and Roxanne and Malek Gentry; seven great-grandchildren: John David, Anna, Tyler, and Charlie Lawson and Sydney, Owen, and Ashley Carmichael; three brothers: Ed (Sharon) Wasser of Glendale, AZ, Jim (Iris) Wasser of Vandalia, IL, and Dale (Kay) Wasser of Vandalia, IL; sister, Kay Goldberg of Chicago, and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will take place at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, December 28, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Church of Rochelle, 1100 Calvin Road, Rochelle with Rev. Dr. James A. Tilley officiating. Visitation will be from 9-9:50 A.M. on Thursday at the church. Interment will follow in Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church.
