Arlington Heights

Betty Loraine Parsley, 91, formerly of Rochelle, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2019 in Barrington, Illinois. Betty was born on March 21, 1928 to Henry and Ella (Bolhous) Rasmussen in Pine Rock Township, IL. She married Edgar Parsley on January 14, 1950 in Rochelle, IL.

Betty worked for a variety of employers throughout her life. She started as a beautician and eventually worked for companies such as General Electric, Gleichman Pharmacy, and Del Monte Corporation, where she retired in 1985. She was a also a committed volunteer at St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford. Betty was a loving, strong, independent, hard-working, caring, generous and disciplined woman with a trusting faith in God.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Lesa (David) Lawson of Arlington Heights, IL; granddaughter, Abigail Lawson of Wheaton, IL; brother, Russell (Velma) Rasmussen of Rochelle, IL; sister, Darlene Stratton of Warrenville, IL and many loving nieces and nephews.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Edgar; five brothers: Harlan "Sonny", William "Bud", Dale, Roger and Marvin Rasmussen; and sister, Eula Fay Friday.

A funeral service will take place at 11:30 A.M. Monday, May 20, 2019 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rochelle with Pastor Gregory Hoffmann officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Burial will follow the service at Trinity Memory Gardens in Rochelle.
