Betty A. Staton, 97, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at her niece's home in Naperville, Illinois. Betty was born on November 25, 1927 to Frank C. and Marie A. (Goetting) Amberger in Petersburg, IL. In 1945, Betty graduated from Petersburg Harris High School. On October 3, 1948, she married Clarence Staton in Petersburg, IL.
Betty worked for over 34 years at Del Monte in Rochelle as a personnel service supervisor. She and her husband, Clarence, owned and operated Staton Aerial Service. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Rochelle and enjoyed volunteering at the First Presbyterian Thrift Store.
Betty is survived by her nieces and nephews: Robin (Amy) Amberger of Naperville, IL, Tom (Sherry) Ross of Rochelle, IL, Debbie Ross of Rockford, IL, Mike (Tammy) Ross of Maysville KY, Kim Ross of Plano, TX, Lori (William) Jack of Evans, CO, and Mark Donaldson of Loves Park, IL; and first cousins, Helen L. Cacciapaglia and Peggy Lou Fix.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, on January 6, 2006; sisters: Harriet Amberger, Frances Ross, Mary Catherine "DeeDee" Davidson and Shirley Donaldson; brother, Frank "Sonny" Amberger, Jr.; and nephews: Daniel and Brian Amberger.
The visitation will be from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M., Monday, March 10, 2025 at the First Presbyterian Church, 1100 Calvin Road, Rochelle. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Doug Forsberg officiating. Burial will be the following day, Tuesday, March 11, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Petersburg, IL at 11:00 A.M. Visit www.ungerhorner.com to sign the online guest book.
