Brandon Cortes, age 18, passed away on Saturday August 1, 2026 after being hit by a moving vehicle. He was born on September 26, 2007 in Rockford, IL, the son of Liliana Hernandez and Edgar O. Cortes.

He graduated from the Rochelle Township High School, class of 2026. He was very outgoing. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing football and dancing. He lived life to the fullest.

Brandon is survived by his parents: Edgar and Liliana Cortes, three siblings: Edgar, Mateo and Isabella Cortes; paternal grandparents: Isidro Cortes and M. de Jesus Garcia; maternal grandparents: Jose Luis Hernandez and Ma. Audelia Sanchez; uncles and aunts: Jose Luis and Nancy Anaya, Luis Angel and Joana Hernandez, Ivan and Marcela Cortes, Jesus Cortes, Dagoberto Cortes, and Jorge and Jazmin Calderon; and cousins: Cindy, Jessy and Emily Anaya, Any, Justin and Evelyn Hernandez, Ivana and Belen Cortes, Dagoberto Jr. and Hector Cortes, Dalary, Valery, Adaly, Melody and Jorge Jr. Calderon and Lupita, Ivan, Daniela, Benjamin and Isidro Cortes.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. on Friday, August 7, 2026 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, August 8 at the St. Patrick Catholic Church, 244 Kelley Drive, Rochelle with Father Jesus Dominguez officiating.
