Obituary

Calvin E. Strang, 81, of Lindenwood, IL died on Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford. He was born Nov. 6, 1925 in Lindenwood, IL the son of Frank and Mabel Reints Strang. He married Lorraine Baker on November 23, 1947 in the Lindenwood Union Church. Calvin never retired as a carpenter. He worked at Bailey Brothers, Ogle County F. S. and Tikkala Construction over the years. He was a member of the Lindenwood Union Church, serving on the Church Board, Choir and as past Sunday School Superintendent; Lynnville Township Trustee, and past president of the Lindenwood School Board; life member of the V.F.W. Post 3878 of Rochelle, serving in WWII in the Army Air Corps; volunteered at the Lindenwood Fire Department, Eswood School, and for the Pegasus Special Riders; president of the Lindenwood Memorial Day.

Preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers: Clarence, Francis and Willard Strang; 6 sisters: Edna Beach, Fern Rittmeyer, Cora Beck, Edith Hill, Stella Baker, and Grace Huntley.

son: Steve (Sally) Strang of Rochelle
4 daughters: Sue (Denny) Golden of Rochelle
Karen (Roger) Pearson of Lindenwood
Christy (Al) Hawkins of Byron
Lisa (Charlie) Woodworth of Monroe Center

5 sisters: Iris Sturgill of Rochelle, IL, Marie Donahoo of Rochelle, IL, Vera McQueen of Rochelle, Ruth Harrolle of Rochelle, IL, and Margaret (Melvin) Hoffman of Rochelle
4 sister-in-laws: Loretta (Jim) Holtman, Dorothy Kittleson, Marie (Dewey White) Baxter, and Ruth Strang

14 grandchildren: Wendy (Kevin) Isham, Jennifier Vesta, Crystal McRoberts, Brandon (Fianceé: Danelle Bray) Strang, Natalie Strang; Josie, Lucas and Leon Woodworth; Jason (Laura) Hawkins and Joshua Hawkins; Sarah (Robert) Flanagan, Mary (Bryan) Kunstman and Rachel (Eric) Livingston; and Jessica Golden.
8 great grandchildren: Elizabeth Hawkins, Sydney Carpenter, Tyler Isham, Megan Strang, Erin and James Vesta, Andrea and Cody McRoberts.
Numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, April 7, 2007 at the Lindenwood Union Church with Rev.'s Les and Pat McClelland officiating.

Visitation will be held from 4 - 8 PM on Friday, April 6, 2007 at the Unger Horner Funeral Home, Rochelle.

Burial at the Lindenwood Cemetery with a military service provided by the V.F.W. Post 3878.
