Camilla (Cammie) Lorena Thompson, 54 went to rest in the House of Our Savior on September 12, 2013 in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born Camilla L. Castor on November 29, 1958 in Rochelle, IL to Nerina Dapiran (Castor) and the late Joseph Castor, Jr. She was married in Rochelle, IL on October 20, 1990 to Dale R. Thompson of Lorain, OH. She was predeceased by her loving and caring grandparents, Duilio and Francesca Dapiran, and her great-grandmother, Maria Dapiran.
Cammie will be remembered for her loving, generous, gentle and selfless nature and one who loved and cherished her family and friends. She loved her Italian heritage and demonstrated that love through her incredible eloquence with the Italian language and untouchable talents in the kitchen. Her love of family was palpable and was evidenced by the depth of her connection with an infinite love for her mother and her brother who adored her beyond words. She approached life with grace and class and touched the lives of all those who knew her. It was impossible not to love her and she will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her husband Dale Thompson and son, Lorne Thompson of Fort Wayne, IN, mother Nerina Dennis, her brother Dominic Castor (Debra) of Simpsonville, SC, as well as many cousins in Italy and Croatia. She is also survived by her step-dad, Robert Dennis, step-sister Tamara Martin (Al) and daughters, step-brother, Tom Dennis (Kari) and children.
Cammie was a 1976 graduate of Rochelle Township High School and then attended Springfield College and Northern Illinois University.
Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, September 20, 2013 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Rochelle. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:30 AM on Friday prior to funeral at St. Patrick's. There will be a fellowship luncheon in the Parish Center directly following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation. Burial at the St. Patrick Cemetery, Rochelle.
