Carl "Joe" Tyler, 56, passed away Monday, May 6, 2013 at Rochelle Community Hospital. He was born October 4, 1956 in Popular Bluff, Missouri to Carl Joseph "CJ" and Doris (Scott) Tyler. Joe married Susan Turner April 1, 1999 in Rochelle. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Joe graduated from Paw Paw High School in 1975, entered the Army upon graduation and was discharged honorably in 1979. He achieved an associate degree in computer science after release from the Army. He worked at Kishwaukee Forge in Cortland for 20 years. After that, Joe worked as a fork lift operator for Americold in Rochelle. He enjoyed woodworking, photography, traveling, teaching his wife how to use power tools while doing many home improvements and touring on scooters with his wife. He was a Rochelle resident for 34 years.
Joe is survived by his wife, Sue; son, Adam Tyler; daughter, Angela Rosenbaum of Alton, Illinois; two step-daughters: Jennifer (Mike) Hardin of Phoenix, Arizona and Nicole Greenfield of Rochelle; one brother, Kevin (Clairisa) Tyler of Rochelle; one sister, Tamara Tyler of Wilmington, Delaware and one nephew, Matthew Tyler of Rochelle.
The funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 11, 2013 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle with Pastor Corey Gilliam officiating. The visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, May 10, 2013 at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Melugin Grove Cemetery in Compton, IL with military services provided by the Eastern-Lee Ogle Honor Guard. A memorial is to be established.
