Rochelle

Carol June Friestad, 93, was called home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, August 7, 2023, at Franklin Grove Living and Rehabilitation Center in Franklin Grove, Illinois.  Carol was born on June 9, 1930, the second eldest of 10 children born to Wendell and Hiskea "Carrie" (Harms) Furman.  She attended Rochelle Township High School and graduated in 1948. Carol married the love of her life, Wayne Friestad, on July 2, 1950, who predeceased her on March 25, 2020.  They were blessed with two sons, David and Jay.

Carol worked in the office of Caron Spinning Company from high school to the birth of her first son, David.  After the birth of her second son, Jay, she worked as a seamstress for the Personality Shoppe for over 35 years.  After the store closed in 1997, she continued doing alterations for many years, making close friends along the way.

Wayne and Carol loved to dance, play cards, and spent many enjoyable evenings doing both.  Carol enjoyed attending all her sons' sporting events, school and church activities, as she watched them grow into fine young men.

Carol was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.  She loved attending Sunday Service and Bible class.  She was active in the St. Paul Women's Guild and taught Kindergarten Sunday School for over 30 years.

In addition to her husband, Wayne, and her parents, Carol is preceded by her son, Jay on November 16, 2019; brothers: Keith and Curtis Furman and sisters: Rita Meling, Doris Hardy and Joyce Gittleson.
