Rochelle

Carol Ann McCarthy, 86, of Rochelle, IL passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, IL with her family by her side. She was born on April 2, 1939, the daughter of Walter Mazinski and Helen Webster in Chicago, IL.

Carol was known for her kindness and good nature with everyone she came into contact with. She enjoyed reading, road trips, good food, and time spent with family and friends.

She is survived by her sons: James (Sharon) McCarthy of Rochelle, Lawrence (Jamie) McCarthy of Byron, and daughter, Donna (Dan) Ferguson of Rochelle, IL. Carol has eight grandchildren: Shawn (Stephanie) McCarthy of Davis Junction, IL, Shannon McCarthy of Rochelle, Gabby (Jordan Isaacs) McCarthy of Rochelle, Kelsey McCarthy of Lee Center, IL, Eddie Glavin of Chicago, Taylor (Madison) McCarthy, Michael McCarthy, and Tyler McCarthy. Carol also has seven great-grandchildren and a very special friend, Sandy Wittenauer, who is considered to be a part of the family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Helen, and her step father, John Gruber.

Cremation care has been provided by the Unger-Horner Funeral Home. Her family would like to thank the staff at Manor Court in Rochelle for the care and support given to her during the last five months. They would also like to thank Unger-Horner Funeral Home for assisting the family.
