Catherine "Kit" T. Hakanson, 72, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 31, 2020 in Franklin Grove, Illinois. Kit was born on April 17, 1947 to Eugene and Joan (Hayes) Tigan in Rockford, IL. She graduated with her bachelor's degree from Western Illinois. Kit married David Lee Hakanson on May 20, 1967 in Vallejo, CA.

Kit loved being a resident of Rochelle and was active in the community as a Chamber Ambassador, active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and as a substitute elementary teacher. She loved hosting outings in her back yard and enjoyed spending time with her seven grandchildren.

Kit is survived by her husband of 53 years, David of Rochelle, two sons: David (Caroline) Hakanson of Indianapolis, IN and Michael Hakanson of Rockford, IL; five siblings: Anne Tigan of Madison, WI, Elizabeth Lachi of Peoria, IL, Lucy (Mike) Hare of Dayton, OH, Jay (Effie) Tigan of San Jose and Joe Tigan of Michigan; seven grandchildren: McKenna, David "Trey" III, Grant, Drew, Keeley, Cooper and Noah.

A private family funeral mass will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, April 3, 2020 at St. Patrick Church in Rochelle, IL with Father Ruben Herrera officiating. Burial will follow the service at St. Patrick Cemetery in Rochelle. Memorials may be made in Kit's memory to St. Patrick Catholic Church.
