Cathy Ann Johnson Giddings, 61, of Sycamore, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 7, 1962, in DeKalb, the daughter of Lawrence Claus and Leona May (Moland) Johnson. She married Brian James Giddings on April 1, 2008, in Sycamore.

Cathy was an avid bargain hunter and enjoyed going to auctions. She was an award winning decorator. She loved to decorate for all holidays, especially Christmas and the Sycamore Pumpkin Festival. She had many friends that became family, known as the LRD. Cathy was a loving and devoted wife, mom, and grandma who will be missed by all who knew her.

Cathy is survived by her husband, Brian, of Sycamore; six children, Mike Hurst of Davis Junction, Melissa (Clint) Capes of Rochelle, Mandy (James) Mason of Creston, Matthew Hurst of Rochelle, Dalton (Kyra Cullen) Hurst of Sycamore; and Nicole Hurst of Murray, KY; eight grandchildren, Katelynn, Molly and Dexter Hurst, Danielle and Zachary Capes, Brianna (Cody) Brechon, Devin Moses, and Caleb Moses; siblings, Richard (Dawn) Johnson, Brian (Dawn) Johnson, and Sharon Brooks, all of Rochelle; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cathy is preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Leona Johnson; and a father-in-law, Harold Giddings.

Funeral service will be at 12 Noon on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St. in Rochelle with Judy Williams officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until 11:50 A.M. prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow in White Rock Cemetery in Kings, IL. A memorial has been established.
