Charles Edward "Ed" Foltz, 79, of Rochelle, passed away Sunday, October 15, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 29, 1944 in Memphis, TN, the son of Cecil and Artie (Williams) Foltz. He married Betty Kay Hasty on March 9, 1968 in Rochelle. She preceded him in death on February 16, 2005.

Ed worked for Caron International until it closed. He then worked for Ideal Industries in Sycamore until his retirement.

Ed enjoyed spending time with his family whether it was camping or having a fish fry from the fish he had caught. Ed loved to fish and attend stock car races. In his younger years, he even raced at Bob Joe's Speedway in Sycamore. After the races, he and his family would stop and enjoy pizza at Pizza Villa, one of his favorite places. He enjoyed going to watch his grandkids' sporting events and got so involved, he was sometimes kicked out for expressing his opinion. He never had a problem with speaking his mind. That's what we loved about him.

Ed is survived by four children: Shawn (Scott) Windsor of Rochelle, Rhonda Foltz of Arkansas, Dawn Sage of Rochelle, and Rick (Sue) Sage of Kentucky; eleven grandchildren: Brandon (Julia) Nalley, Tyler Nalley, Lindsey Cooper, Chloe Baker, Dustin Tapp, Hunter and Hayden Jones, Amanda Sawlsville, Felicia Sage, David Sage, and Ashley Brown; several great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Donna and Judy Foltz; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews and many friends; and a special friend, Nancy Brown.

Ed is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty; and brothers, Don and Dave Foltz.

Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. Thursday, October 19, 2023, at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St. in Rochelle.

The funeral service will be at 2 P.M., Friday, October 20, 2023, at the funeral home with Chaplain Judy Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Trinity Memory Gardens in Rochelle. Please visit www.ungerhorner.com to sign the online guest book.
