Charles W. Mossberg, 79, passed away peacefully with his family by his side Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon, Illinois. Chuck was born August 4, 1936 to Ferdinand and Alice (Connors) Mossberg in Edgerton, Wisconsin. He proudly served with the United States Army in Korea during peace time. He married Carol Bohl on June 6, 1964 in Rochelle. Chuck worked as an accountant for Del Monte in Rochelle for many years. After retirement, he worked for Northern Illinois University. He is preceded in death by his parents and many aunts and uncles.
Chuck is survived by his wife of almost 52 years, Carol; three daughters: Cindy Hayes of Rochelle, Susie (Randy) Vincent of El Paso, IL and Julie (Blaine) Kinsley of Springfield, IL; two brothers: John (Sandy) Mossberg of Fond du Lac, WI and Ferd (Terry) Mossberg of St. Charles, IL; five grandchildren: Jill Hayes, Jenn (Nate) Ramsey, Heather (Mark) Flynn, Aaron (Katie Meaney) Hayes and Morgan Ferrenburg; and four great-grandchildren: Tenley and Crew Ramsey and Kaylee and Mason Flynn and many nieces and nephews.
Chuck loved the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Cubs. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and reading. He was a devoted family man and proud of his daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew him.
The funeral service will be at 5:00 P.M., Monday, May 16, 2016 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle with Rev. Dr. James Tilley officiating. The visitation will be from 3:45 - 4:45, Monday, prior to the funeral service. Military rights provided by Eastern-Lee Ogle Honor Guard. Cremation rites will be accorded after the service.
