Clarence "Pat" Lang, 91, of Rochelle, died peacefully in his home, January 17, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was born Nov. 26, 1923 in Rochelle, IL, the son of Fred and Helen (Doyle) Lang of Creston. Pat grew up in the Creston area and graduated from Rochelle High School in 1941. He moved to Waukegan, IL and later moved back to this area where he met, and married Helen Parsley, of Steward, Aug. 2, 1952 at St. Patricks Catholic Church in Rochelle. Pat enjoyed being outdoors, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also liked watching all kinds of sports. Pat worked at Del Monte Farms in Rochelle for 35 years and retired in 1983. For many years Pat was active in Kiwanis Golden K, Meals on Wheels, the Christian Food Pantry and NAMI. Pat was preceded in death by his parents; one son: Stephen W. Lang Feb. 15, 2011 and sisters: Margaret H. Harris and Elizabeth M. Lazier.
Pat is survived by his wife Helen of Rochelle; sons: Jeffrey (Nancy) Lang of Geneseo and Doyle Lang of Borrego Springs, CA; daughter: Mari (Mike) Ward of Poplar Grove, IL. Pat was very proud of his grandchildren: Melanie (Jeff Reimann) Lang of San Diego, Jessica (Shane) Lansford of Monroe Center, Julianne Ward of Poplar Grove, Jonathon Lang of Indianapolis, Jason Ward of Chicago, Alex Lang of Chicago, and Colby Lang of Geneseo. In addition to the love for his grandchildren, Pat's latest pride & joy was 18 month old great-grandchildren Wyatt Reimann and Oliver Lansford.
Funeral mass will be held 10:30 AM, Thursday, Jan. 22 at St. Patricks Catholic Church in Rochelle. Visitation will be Wed. Jan. 21, from 4-7 PM, at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th Street Rochelle, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kiwanis Golden K or Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon, IL.
