IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Claud "Jinx"
Ray Hord
June 1, 1946 – April 12, 2023
Claud (Jinx) Ray Hord
On Wednesday, April 12, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones, Jinx passed, peacefully at home, from this life into eternal life after a long, hard battle with COPD. He was born June 1, 1946, in Ava, Missouri to Ameal and Clara Belle (Adamson) Hord.
Jinx moved to Rochelle, IL in 1966 where he met the love of his life, Bonnie (Russell) Hord and
they wed six months later. They just celebrated 56 years on December 3, 2022 . They welcomed their first daughter, Christine (Todd) Brazeal on their first anniversary, followed soon by son, Timothy (Betty) Hord, and later daughter, Paula (Scott Rockstead) Hord.
After 29 years, he retired from DeKalb Ag Seed Company and returned to his birthplace to
spend his golden years with his beloved wife. Even in his retirement years, the hard-working
man continued to work laborious jobs to provide for his family. In his free time, he was often
found fishing, camping, gardening, and sitting on the porch watching the beauty of God's work.
He was an avid John Deere collector and loved to listen to gospel bluegrass music on Sunday
mornings with his cup of coffee.
He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren: Tiffani (Joshua) Medema, Alexis (Rob)
Charbonneau, Dylan Brazeal, Devin Brazeal, Melissa (Jamie) Garza, Junior (Nicole) Garza, Alyssa (Samuel) Navejas, Cruz (Andrea) Hord, Jasmyn (Joe) Maxwell, Grant Maxwell, Haylee Maxwell, and Keira Maxwell along with 18 great-grandchildren, and sister, Pat Butts.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and three siblings: Richard Hord, Wanda Hathcock,
and Reggie Hord.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Unity Hospice for making his final days calm
and peaceful. They would also like to thank Pastor Rick Eldred for blessing him and bringing
comfort to his family in his final hours and the support of numerous kind neighbors who were
able to be there for him when family could not.
A celebration of life will be held at a later time. Memorials, in Jinx's name, can be sent to either
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the American Lung Association. His final wish was that he would be remembered as a hard worker who loved his family with all his heart. He wanted them to know he was very proud of all of them and "they have all did good". Cremation care has been provided by the Unger-Horner Funeral Home.
