Obituary

We mournfully announce the passing of Clifton David Berg, fondly known as Kip, who passed away on August 7, 2025 in his home in Rochelle. Born in Rochelle, IL, on September 28, 1947, Cliff spent his entire life in Rochelle, a town he adored, shaping his existence around the people and places he loved. Cliff was a 1965 graduate of RTHS and went on to earn his associates degree in 1979 at Kishwaukee College.  He was a member of the AFL-CIO Affiliated Unions (Machinist Union ).  He was also a member of MENSA (High IQ, top 2% of Population).  Cliff was proud of his military service serving in the US Army 1966-1969. He served in Vietnam from 1968-1969.  He was also a proud member of the Rochelle VFW Post 3878.

Cliff was a man of varied interests.
A retired Industrial Electrician, he dedicated many years to the manufacturing industry, working with Del Monte Foods and Silgan in Rochelle. His dedication extended beyond his professional life as he was a volunteer for the Flagg Center Fire Department in the early 80's.
He was a voracious reader, an enthusiastic fisherman, and had a keen interest in camping. His adventurous spirit led him to the shooting range, where he enjoyed honing his skills. His zest for life was infectious, and he had a way of making even the mundane seem extraordinary.

He was preceded in death by his late wife, Bonnie Berg, his parents, Kenneth and Martha Berg, and one grandson, Jonathan.

Cliff is survived by his step-daughter, Monica Perkins of Rochelle, his daughter, Meagan (Chris) Holthaus of Breese, IL, and his step-son Michael Brown of DeKalb, IL;  3 sisters: Cathy (David) Godfrey of AZ, Sharon (Bill) Koter of CO and Debbie( Andy) Katchmar of Bloomington, IL; 5 Grandchildren: Jonathon and Emma Holthaus, Jack (Tony) Perkins, Mila Morrell  and Nathan Brown; , and  1 great grandchild: Ari Morrell.
