Connie Kay Rivera, 81, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family. Connie was born on November 8, 1938 to Rex and Mary (McKim) McCombs in Albia, Iowa. She received her Associates Degree from the American Institute of Business. On October 25, 1958, she married Federico "Fred" Rivera at St. Peter's Church in Lovilia, IA, who preceded her in death on January 2, 2015. She was also predeceased by her brother, Kenneth McCombs. Connie worked at Kishwaukee Community College beginning in1976 and retiring in 2003.

Connie was a longtime member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Rochelle. She was part of the Women's Club and Home Extension and served at the Rochelle Community Hospital gift shop. She enjoyed her time at the Senior Center and loved spending time with her family and the many events in Rochelle.

Connie is survived by her three daughters: Christine Salazar of Rochelle, IL, Catherine (Patrick) Flom of Loves Park, IL and Lisa (Michael) Petersen of Vernon Hills, IL; brother, Richard (Pam) McCombs of Fort Collins, CO; two sisters: Cheryl (Dave) Griffin of Albia, IA and Judy (Tuck) Durian of Ottumwa, IA; sister-in-law, Sandy McCombs of Ackworth, IA; four grandchildren: Ashley Flom, Tiffany Salazar, Nathan (fiancé, Samantha Logue) Flom and Keyana Salazar; and great grandson, Keilon Salazar.

There will be a private funeral mass at 12:00 noon, Monday, August 24, 2020. The service will be live streamed on the Unger-Horner Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will follow the service at St. Patrick Cemetery in Rochelle. Memorials may be made in Connie's memory to Visiting Angels or Serenity Hospice and Home.
