Dale "Boat" Gene Adkisson, 73, passed away Thursday, January 9, 2025 at Katherine Shaw Bethea Hospital in Dixon, Illinois.  Dale was born on April 29, 1951 to Charles D. and Opal (Kemp) Adkisson in Dyess, Arkansas.  On December 13, 1975, he married Linda Venable in Rockford, IL.

Dale enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing and his Packer football. He was a baseball coach for a lot of kids in Rochelle t-ball through senior league. He loved his family, and they were as he would say, "his greatest achievement."

Dale is survived by his wife of 49 years, Linda of Amboy; son, Charles "Tug" Adkisson of Amboy; granddaughter, Cameron; sister, Sondra Williams of Kirkland, IL; many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters: Lana Thayer and Wanda Adkisson; and two brothers-in-law, Ronald Williams and Larry Thayer.

The visitation will be from 4:00 - 6:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle.  There will be a private family service with military honors provided by the Eastern Lee-Ogle Honor Guard at a later time.  Memorials may be made to the family.  Visit www.ungerhorner.com to sign the online guest book.
