Obituary

Dale R. Vogeler, 86, passed away peacefully Sunday, September 27, 2020 at his home with family by his side. Dale was born on July 25, 1934 to Jacob and Alice (Peterson) Vogeler in Rochelle. After graduating from Rochelle Township High School in 1953, Dale proudly served with the United States Army. On February 4, 1956, he married his high school sweetheart, Constance "Connie" J. Busse, in Esmond, IL.

Over the years, Dale had many jobs in the Rochelle area. He worked as a service manager for Manning Ford, truck driver for Swift Meat Packing and Township Supervisor for several years. In 1974, he and Connie bought Hub City Furniture and eventually added Radio Shack into the back of the store. During this time, Dale was elected mayor of Rochelle and served from 1983 - 1987. Following his mayoral term, selling the furniture store and moving Radio Shack out of the store, he became the branch manager of the First Federal Savings and Loan in Rochelle, which eventually became Associated Bank, until his retirement.

Dale had a huge heart not only for his family but for anyone that crossed his doorstep. Everyone was always greeted with a hug and a kiss and an "I love you" when they left. Some of his most treasured time was spent out by the pool enjoying his kids (and their wives), grandkids and most recently his great grandchildren. Dale enjoyed many activities over the years, from boating and snowmobiling to his favorite, fishing, and building incredibly detailed and time consuming, large model scale airplanes. Throughout their marriage, he and Connie went on many trips with their dear friends, Alice and Melvin Reed and Jack and Lois Graf. He also relished all the years of friendship with his long time friend, Marion Mann.

In addition to his parents, Dale is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Connie, on December 22, 2011; two infant children: Denise and Jeffery; and four sisters: Doris Pickreign, Barb Ebens, Marilyn Adams and Emogene Jaeger.

Dale is survived by his three boys: Gary Vogeler of Esmond, IL, Jim (Dianne) Vogeler of Rochelle and Michael (Annette) Vogeler of Oregon, IL; his brother, Don (Tootie) Vogeler of Rochelle; brother-in-law, DeWayne Adams of Davis Junction, IL; 13 grandchildren: Michelle (Travis) Petersen, Scott Vogeler, Jacob (Kendall) Vogeler, Nathan (Carly) Vogeler, Blake (Carmen) Vogeler, Mallory Vogeler, Nadia (Zach) Dorrel, Darah (Kyle) Bridgeman, Erick Vogeler, Tyler Vogeler, Wade Vogeler, Eli Vogeler, Sarah Vogeler, ; ten great grandchildren: Chloe and Ava Petersen, Jack, Ava and Alexis, Henry and Theodore, Bo and Briggs, Jamie and three more on the way, many nieces and nephews and his favorite four-legged friend, Simy.
