Obituary

Daniel James "Jim" Sullivan II, 56, of Rochelle, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Monday August 31, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Jim was born on January 31, 1953, the son of Daniel J. and Luetta A. (Sanderson) Sullivan. He married Sandra J. O'Brien on November 3, 1990 in Rochelle. Jim enjoyed boating, working with tools, and playing Christmas pranks all year round. He will be remembered by his family as a great dad who was devoted, loving, fun, strong, and outgoing. He always had a smile on his face and seemed to know someone or make a new friend everywhere he went. He will be missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Jim graduated from Rochelle Township High School in 1971. He received his Associates Degree in Business from Kishwaukee College in 1973. He was employed by Alloyd-Tegrant Corp. in DeKalb, IL . Jim was a lifelong member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Rochelle.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Daniel and Luetta Sullivan and his father-in-law: Roy O'Brien, and brother-in-law: Randall O'Brien..

Jim is survived by his wife: Sandra, son: Daniel J. Sullivan III of Sterling; son: Thomas (Kristal Zies) Hartnett III of Rochelle and daughter: Jennifer (Tim) Thompson of DeKalb; sister Kathleen Sullivan of Tamarac, FL; Brother: Steven (Jo Ann) Sullivan of Skokie, IL; mother-in-law: Frances O'Brien; brother-in-laws: Ed (Kim) O'Brien, Dave O'Brien, and Steve (Kristin Callies) O'Brien; sister-in-law: Kathy (Bob) Sipe; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral mass will be at St. Patrick Catholic Church at 10:00 AM on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009 with Rev. Steven Lange Officiating.
Visitation on Wednesday from 4 - 8 PM at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home in Rochelle. Burial at Riverview Cemetery in Oregon, IL overlooking the Rock River.
