Darrell Roger Jones, 94, passed away Monday, August 22, 2022 at the Rochelle Community Hospital in Rochelle, IL. Darrell was born on September 13, 1927 on the Becker Farm near Ashton, IL to William and Helen (Totten) Jones, where he enjoyed a childhood of farm life with his siblings, Donald, Darlene, Pauline, and Anita. He graduated from Steward High School, attended the University of Illinois, served in the army, and worked at Sunstrand, Ingersoll, Del Monte and other area companies. Darrell was married in 1951 to Shirley Conner of Rochelle for twenty years with whom he raised four daughters, Debbie, Donna, Denise and Deanna in Rockford.

Darrell always participated in his family's love of singing, performing in the Redeemer Lutheran Church choir, Barber-shoppers, and Kishwaukee College choir. He enjoyed spending time in nature and working on his small farm that adjoined with his brother Don's property near Steward. He loved reciting humorous poetry and had a generous nature.

Darrell is survived by his four daughters: Debbie (Peter) Nordeen of Asheville, NC, Donna (Tim) Lovstad of Lakeville, MN, Dr. Denise (David) D'Angelo of Athens, GA and Deanna (Mark) Falchook of Celebration, FL; three sisters: Pauline Cultra, Anita (Fred) Koch both of Rochelle and Darlene Downs of Oak Park, IL; 11 grandchildren: Dominick D'Angelo, Kimberly (Jon) Flaa, Kris Lovstad, Kari (Tyler) Grapp, Samantha (Tyler) Hudson, Andrew, Grace, Ella, Jared, Matea and Alec Falchook and six great grandchildren: Griffin Flaa, Thorbjorn and Johannes Lovstad, Amelia, Alaina and Odin Grapp.

In addition to his parents, Darrell was preceded in death by an infant son, Dennis and brother, Dr. William Donald Jones.

A memorial service will be held at a 2:00 P.M., Monday, August 14, 2023 at the Steward United Methodist Church, 507 Main Street, Steward. Cremation care has been provided by the Unger-Horner Funeral Home in Rochelle. Visit www.ungerhorner.com to sign the online guest book.
