Darroll Allan Richardson, 91, passed away peacefully day, March 11, 2026 at his home in Rochelle, Illinois with family by his side. Darroll was born on March 7, 1935, the son of Charles P. and Helen P. (Mitchell) Richardson in DeKalb, IL. He proudly served with the United States Army from 1958 to 1960. On May 21, 1968, he married Berniece Eckhardt in Rochelle. She preceded him in death on October 3, 2025. For over 51 years, Darroll and Berniece owned and operated the Pour House and previously the Highway Lounge before it was lost to a fire. Darroll was also a bus driver for many years and, in his younger days, served as manager of the Rochelle Country Club.
He was a member of the Rochelle United Methodist Church, Horicon Lodge 144 and the Tabala Shriners of Rockford.
Darroll is survived by his four children: Bill (Natalie) Winebaugh of Lost Lake, IL, Kelly (Gene) Kempson of Rochelle, Micki Dettman of Sterling, IL and Tracy Richardson of Rochelle; daughter-in-law, Barb Winebaugh of Rochelle; many grandchildren, great grandchildren; special caregivers: Heather, Krissie and Sissy and best little buddy, grandson, Noah Richardson.
In addition to his parents and wife, Berniece, Darroll was preceded in death by an infant son, David; son, Tom Winebaugh; three brothers: Lloyd, James and Kenneth and three sisters: Lorraine Richardson, Pearl Miller and Carole Bolin.
The memorial visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 21, 2026 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. The memorial service will follow at 11:00 A.M., Saturday with Pastor Glen Stewart officiating. During the service, the Horicon Lodge will conduct a Masonic service and there will be military honors provided by the Eastern Lee-Ogle Honor Guard and the Army Honor Guard.
