DELLA MAE LAZIER
Della Mae Lazier, 90, passed away July 26, 2007 in Fort Atkinson, WI.
Della Mae Tilton was born November 11, 1916, in Ogle County, daughter of Cole and Florence Tilton.She married Robert Lazier in 1938 and they enjoyed 52 years together. Robert preceded her on January 20, 1991.
A graduate of RTHS, Della Mae attended 2 yrs at Cornell University in Cornell, Iowa and later graduated Summa cum Laude from Northern Illinois University, De Kalb in 1965.
Della Mae and Robert retired to Fort Atkinson in 1973 from Rochelle. She was a life member of the Fort Atkinson Memorial Hospital Auxiliary where she volunteered weekly for over 25 yrs in the gift shop; she was also a life member of the Fort Atkinson Historical Society, Humane Society of Jefferson County, and the Fairhaven Women's Auxiliary. She was a very active member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in the Fort until her death. There she was involved in the Broadcaster, the Lend-A-Hand, Monday Peanuts, Circle #3, the church bazaar, Bible study and Sunday school. She was an avid reader, supported the library and belonged to several book clubs.Della Mae is survived by her daughter Roberta (Bobbie) Mae Long and her husband Denny, their children, Matthew and Ellen Mae, all of Tennessee; and her son Bruce of Dallas, TX, and his daughter Danielle of San Francisco, CA.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 29, 2007 at 11:AM at the Washington Grove Cemetery with Rev. Chris Buckingham-Taylor of Fort Atkinson conducting the service and Unger Horner Funeral Home assisting the family.
