Diana Lynn Somers, 77, a resident of Allure of Pinecrest, Mt. Morris, IL, passed peacefully away at OSF St. Katherine Hospital in Dixon, Illinois, Tuesday March 3, 2026, after a brief illness.

Diana was the oldest daughter of Howard and Marguerite (Hinrich) Somers of Lindenwood, IL. She attended Lindenwood Grade School and graduated from Rochelle Township High School in 1966. After high school, Diana moved to Carbondale, Illinois to attend Southern Illinois University. While there, she met and married Richard Emde. Diana worked for over 25 years as a bookkeeper at Southern Gas Company in Carbondale when she retired around 2015. In 2018, due to health issues, Diana moved back to Northern Illinois to be closer to family. She remained a resident at Pinecrest in Mt. Morris until her recent illness.

Diana was preceded in death by both her parents, Howard and Marguerite Somers of Lindenwood, former husband, Richard Emde and nephew, Micah Somers of Lindenwood.

She is survived by her sister, Jennifer (Ernest) Medley of Roselle, IL; brother, Joseph (Dawn) Somers of Lindenwood; sister, Amy (Mark) Elmore of Wausau, Wisconsin; nephews: Trenton Somers and Nicholas (Brittany) Somers of Lindenwood and great nieces and nephews: Trey Somers, Cheyenne Somers, Cole Somers, Cayden Somers, Charli Somers and Codi Somers all of Lindenwood.

Following Diana’s wishes there will be a family only service at a later date at the Lindenwood Cemetery. Cremation services are provided by Unger Horner Funeral Home, Rochelle, IL.
