Obituary

Richard E. Pumfrey, 74 of Ashton, IL, passed away on Monday, Oct. 19, 2009 at his home.
He was born on Feb. 25, 1935 in Rochelle, the son of Clarence Edward and Leona Emma (Eich)
Pumfrey. Dick graduated from Rochelle Township High School in 1953 and was a member of
New Hope Fellowship. He married Martha Jane Jacobs on May 2, 1959 in Harmon, IL. Prior
to retiring in 1996, he was employed for 26 years by Catepillar Tractor and served 2 years in
the US Army and 5 ½ years in the US Naval Reserve.

Survivors include his wife Martha of Ashton, IL; son Darrin of Franklin Grove, IL; 2 daughters:
Michele (Juan) Vela of San Isidro, TX and Danelle Hudson of Franklin Grove, IL; brother:
Kenneth (Jean) Pumfrey of Sycamore, IL; 3 sisters: Grayce Hartmen of Woodberry, MN,
Karen (Howard) Fitzgerald of Lancaster, KY and Janice (Don) Farley of Peoria, AZ; 3 grandchildren: Matthew Hudson, Brandon Hudson and Miranda Pumfrey.

Services at the First Presbyterian Church in Rochelle on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009 at 10:00 AM
with Pastor Dan Sargent and Chaplain Jay LeRette officiating. Visitation at Unger-Horner Funeral Home from 4 to 8 PM on Friday, O ct. 23rd. In lieu of flowers: Memorials to Ogle County Hospice or to New Hope Fellowship. Burial at Ashton Cemetery.
