Dolores L. Hummel, 99, died Monday, July 1, 2013 in Rochelle. She was born August 26, 1913 to Frank and Rose (Rathman) Eigen in Comfrey, Minnesota. Dolores married Harold H. Hummel October 5, 1938 in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. He preceded her in death on November 21, 1996. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. Dolores was also predeceased by seven brothers: Herman, John, Martin, Edward, Francis, Bernard and Raymond; one sister, M. Sophia, and her son, Douglas on May 4, 1986.

Dolores will be remembered by her family and numerous friends as a caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to everyone who knew her. She was a generous, happy, person who was very content with her life. We will all remember her easy, wonderful laugh. Dolores was known for being an outstanding cook, avid reader, and devout Catholic . She was noted for her homemade pies and Sunday dinners. Additionally, she enjoyed dancing and music, playing cards, crocheting and watching her two favorite sports teams, the Chicago Bears and Cubs.

Dolores is survived by four daughters: Lee Hummel of Stevens Point, WI, Janice (Rich) Janes of Bellevue, IA, Carol (Jeffrey) Caldwell of Los Lunas, NM and Gayle Linden of Sharpsville, PA, seven grandchildren: Marisa (Michael) Ryan, Leslie (Joe) Gerstl, Anthony Castor, Tracy (Jeffrey) Finch, Brian (Marla) Pedersen, Jill (Michael) Di Paolo and Timothy Linden and 12 great grandchildren: Lindsey, Ian, Sydney, Alyssa, Natalie, Douglas, Zachary, Jonah, Oliver, Milo, Willam and Amelia.

The funeral service will be 10:30 A.M.,Friday, July 5, 2013 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Rochelle. The visitation will be 9:30 to 10:15 A.M. the same day as the funeral service. Burial is at St. Patrick Cemetery in Rochelle. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Patrick Church or Serenity Hospice and Home.
