Donald L. Adamson, 89, passed away quietly after a long illness on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Anam Care, Inc., Rockford, IL. Don was born on July 18, 1927 to J. Thomas and Bertha (Weaver) Adamson in Harrisburg, IL. He was a WWII Navy Veteran. Don farmed his whole life in the Monroe Center area. He was a founding member of the Monroe Center Park Association, member of the Monroe Center Athletic Association and Monroe Center Lions Club. Don and Arlene enjoyed their trips to Hawaii and the reunions of the ship he served on in WWII. He loved watching his grandchildren play. Don enjoyed his life.

In addition to his parents, he preceded in death by his first wife, Lois Kreitzburg Adamson; two brothers: R. Gordon Adamson and J. Grant Adamson; sister, R. Gwen Thompson and a great grandson.

Don is survived by his wife, Arlene Stucker Woodworth Adamson; children: Anne Sand of Monroe Center and Michael (Joan) Adamson of Monroe Center; four step children: Roger (Debra) Woodworth of Dayton, TN, Joyce O'Bryant of Cleveland, OH, Charlie (Lisa) Woodworth of Monroe Center and Joe (Beth) Woodworth of Dayton, TN; four grandchildren: Valerie (Neil) Doty, Brent (Charlene) Adamson, Donene Sand and Tom Sand; two great grandchildren: Brody John and Scarlet Grace; ten step grandchildren: Andrea, Gerry (Kara), Kyle Woodworth, Edward (Susan), Ian (Nancy) and Ryann O'Bryant, Josie, Lucas (Angel) and Leon Woodworth and Laura (Andy) Heald; 13 step great grandchildren: Stone, Chase, Dayna, Lucas, David, Armon, Amari, Amour, Amai, Amea, Eleanor, Chloe and Stella.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, February 20, 2017 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle, with Pastor Bob Mellon officiating. The visitation will be held from 2:00 - 4:00, Sunday, February 19 at the funeral home. The burial will follow the service at Monroe Center Cemetery, Monroe Center, IL with military rites provided by the Eastern Lee-Ogle Honor Guard.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Don's memory to Anam Care, Inc. for the loving care that he received while in their care.
