Donald "Baldy" Eugene Combs, 74, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, June 1, 2025 at his home in Rochelle, Illinois.  Baldy was born on November 12, 1950 to James H. and Shirley (Jacobs) Combs in Rochelle.

Baldy lived a life full of love and laughter surrounded by family and friends.  After serving in the United States Army from 1970 – 1973, he returned to Rochelle and was a friendly face serving drinks with a joke on the side.  He spent many years on the road driving a big rig and could give directions for the best ways to avoid traffic and tolls in the tri-state area.  He was a lifelong Cubs and Bears fan who could often be found at the bowling alley or a pool table when there wasn't a game on WGN.  He was a musical encyclopedia who could name just about any song but had a soft spot for classic country.  He was a member of the Rochelle Moose Lodge and was a regular at local billiard tournaments.

Don is survived by his three sons: Chris Combs of Rochelle, IL, Scott (Megan) Combs of Anchorage, AK and Kyle (Marisa Tague) Combs of Rochelle, IL; his brother: Jimmy Joe (Paula) Combs; his sister, Eva (Jerry) Medine both of Rochelle; 3 grandchildren: Patrick (Brooke) Combs, Leon and Danielle Combs; and great grandson, Carter Combs.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, John Combs.

There will be a visitation from 4:00 - 6:00 P.M., Friday, June 6, 2025 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle.  Cremation care will be provided after the visitation.  Memorials may be made in Don's memory to the Moose Lodge or Tails Humane Society.
