Donald R. Furland, 89, passed away peacefully Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon, IL. Don was born on December 22, 1928 to John and Magda (Larsen) Furland in Rochelle. He married Sue Nance on October 6, 1948. She preceded him in death on September 13, 1994. He married Linda Kerchner Bjorneby on November 9, 1996 in Chattanooga, TN. Don worked in the Sunstrand Aviation Division in Rockford for 10 years, he was a principle owner of Cardinal Realty in Chattanooga, TN, then he retired in 1990 as a Sales and Manufacturing Representative for National Lock. He lived in Chattanooga, TN for 30 years before moving back to Rochelle. He was a member of the Rochelle United Methodist Church and a past member of the Kiwanis Golden K. He was also a founding member and past president of Blackhawk Flying Club.

Some of Don's fondest memories were when he lived on the lake in Chattanooga and driving his pontoon boat. He also loved spending time with family and friends, playing cards, flying planes, riding motorcycles, singing and playing his guitar.

In addition to his wife, Sue, he is predeceased by his parents; two sons: Jim and Jerry; brother, Melburn; sister, Thordis Skar and grandson, Jonathan.

Don is survived by his wife, Linda of Rochelle; son: John of Nashville, TN; daughter-in-law, Donna Furland; Denise Furland Broadus, who was like a daughter; two step children: Jeff (Beth) Bjorneby of Scarboro, IL and Barb (Jeff) Eyster of Rochelle; eight grandchildren: Tyler (Rachel) Furland, Melissa (Robert) Wyatt, Eli Furland, Jessica Johnson, Amelia Furland, Andrew Furland, Jacob Furland, Jacob Bjorneby; and five great grandchildren: Mekaela Furland, Kellen Johnson, Donovan Johnson, Isabella "Bella" Wyatt and Fiyona Furland; niece, Marcia (Chuck) Anderson and nephew, Bob (Brenda) Bjorneby.

The visitation will be held from 9:00 - 10:15 A.M., Monday, August 27, 2018 at the Rochelle United Methodist Church, 709 4th Ave., Rochelle. The funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M. at the church with Pastors Rob Hamilton and David Rogula officiating. The burial will follow at Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle.
