Donald Walter Johnson, Sr., 90, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, Illinois. Don was born on June 11, 1930 to Samuel and Minnie (Smith) Johnson in Cherry Valley, Arkansas. On June 29, 1952, he married Mary Ann Koechig in Hernando, Mississippi. He was the owner of DJ's Auto Sales for 40 years in Rockford, IL.

In addition to his parents, Don is preceded in death by his brother, Jimmie Johnson and his sister, Frances Hammonds.

Don is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Ann; two children: Don (Linda) Johnson, Jr. and Terry (Tom) Harvell both of Rochelle; sister, Myra Hammonds of Rochelle; two grandchildren: Kim (Greg) Johnson and Brian (Lindsay) Johnson and three great grandchildren: Madeline Hanson and Emma and Rylee Johnson.

There will be a walk thru visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M., Monday, October 26, 2020 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. A family service will follow at 11:00 A.M., with nephew, Chad Hall officiating. Burial is at Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle. A memorial will be established.
