Donna M. Gilbert Olson, 98, of Rochelle, passed away Friday, October 7, 2022, at Manor Court of Rochelle. She was born January 11, 1924, in Ashton, the daughter of Everett and Velma (Wilson) Gilbert. She married Dale Arthur Gilbert on December 29, 1945, in Ashton. He preceded her in death on January 5, 1962. She then married Peter H. Olson on April 23, 1968 in Rochelle. He preceded her in death on September 8, 1985.

Donna was the longtime manager of the school cafeteria for Rochelle School District 231. She worked out of Tilton School but prepared food for all the schools in the district. She was a member of the Rochelle United Methodist Church. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 3878 as well as the Rochelle Community Hospital Auxiliary

Donna is survived by two sons; David (Sharon) Gilbert of Morton, IL and Paul Gilbert of Rochelle; three grandchildren, Erik Gilbert of Rochelle, Aaron (Julie) Gilbert of Cary, IL, and Chad (Michelle) Gilbert of Washington, IL; a granddaughter-in-law, Wendy Gilbert of Rochelle; and six great grandchildren, Alex, Ryleigh, Alika, Grace, Molly, and Ellie.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Donna is preceded in death by a brother, E. Dale Gilbert; sister, Patsy (Paul) Nattzinger; and daughter-in-law, Karen Gilbert.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St. in Rochelle with Pastor Katherine Paisley officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle.
