Doris Louise (Findley) Query passed away November 11, 2015 in her home after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family including her first great grandson, born October 8. Doris was born July 7, 1936 in Parsons, Kansas, the daughter of Eldon and Ula (Carr) Findley. She married Dwayne Query on June 12, 1955 in Fort Scott, Kansas. Her passion was her family and serving her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a Deacon at First Presbyterian Church and over the years served as Sunday School teacher for the younger children. She was active in Northern Illinois Tres Dias, having served in many roles, including Rectora. She was a talented seamstress, making everything from pajamas to Barbie clothes for her children and grandchildren. Doris was an active member of 4-H and won grand champion for the suit she made and later entered it in the Kansas State Fair. Her children remember her as a patient, loving, God-filled mom, with a "hidden" sense of humor that was seen from time to time as the "prankster" side of her personality emerged. One time dressing as a gorilla in order to shock a couple of teenage boys hanging out in the basement of her home. She served as a Cub Scout den mother and always prepared speciality birthday cakes for her children ranging from giraffes to model trains. Doris loved to play Scrabble. She looked forward to the challenge that jigsaw puzzles brought her, the more pieces the better and her patience would prevail until the end of completion. And let's not forget that she was an avid fan of Wheel of Fortune and insisted that the DVR be used so she would not miss any episodes.
Doris partnered in business with her husband in Rochelle in 1971 when they started Query Insurance Agency. Traveling was something she enjoyed whether it was for the company, business, camping with family, or RVing to warmer climate in later years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters: Rosmarie Findley, Jenelle Findley and one brother, John Findley. Doris is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dwayne of Rochelle; four children: Brent Query of Rochelle, Greg (Peri Ann) Query of Rochelle, Beth (Tony) Becker of Amboy and Kent (Della) Query of Vienna, VA; three sisters: Helen (Richard) Hixon, Janice (Rollin) Camp, Rita Findley; three brothers: Donald (Sarah) Findley, Robert (Linda) Findley and Floyd (Joyce) Findley; sister-in-law, Connie Findley; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
