DAVIS JUNCTION

Doris J. Sandvik, age 85, passed away on Monday, May 19, 2014 at the Swedish American Hospital in Rockford, IL with her daughters at her side. Doris was born November 8, 1928 in Rockford, IL to Robert J. and Dorothy (Dickinson) Peters. She married John "Lucky" Sandvik on September 10, 1949. He preceded her on January 2, 2008. Doris is also predeceased by her parents and nephew, Robert McCaslin. She was a member of the Rochelle Chapter of the D.A.R., Scott Township Historical Society, Davis Junction United Methodist Church and active in and past president and secretary of the United Methodist Women's Organization.

Doris is survived by two daughters: Barb Sandvik of Davis Junction, IL and Joan (Mike) Adamson of Monroe Center, IL; brother, Ronald (Pat) Peters of Winnebago, IL, two grandchildren: Valerie (Neil) Doty of Monroe Center, IL and Brent (Charlene Figueira) Adamson of Monroe Center, IL; one great grandson, Brody Adamson, two nephews: Richard McCaslin and Donald Peters; niece, Teresa (Steve) Severson and several great nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be 10:30 A.M., Friday, May 23, 2014 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle with Rev. Vern White officiating. The visitation will be from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M., Thursday, May 22 at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow the funeral at Big Mound Cemetery in Davis Junction. Memorials may be made to Scott Township Historical Society or Davis Junction United Methodist Church.
