Obituary

Dorothy M. Sandusky, 91 of Rochelle, passed away on Wed. March 9, 2011 at Rochelle
Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on April 28, 1919 in Waterman, IL to Christopher O. and Mary (Hanson) Jacobson. As a small child, the family moved to Rochelle, where Dorothy lived her entire life. Dorothy was preceded by her parents; husband Charles Sandusky on May 25, 1961; 5 brothers and sister-in-laws: Ernie and June Jacobson, Cliff and Bev Jacobson, Ervin and Mildred Jacobson, Dewey and Mil Jacobson, and Glenn Jacobson; sister and brother-in-law: Frank and Gertrude Eckhardt; niece: Marilyn and nephews: Ron, David, and special nephew: Kenneth. Memberships include St. Paul Lutheran Church and she was a life member of VFW Auxiliary Post 3878. When Dorothy's granddaughter, Kelly was small, she named her "Mimi" and she was "Mimi" to family and friends forever more. She took extreme pride and joy in her family.

After making the difficult decision to place Mother in a health care facility, there were many who
helped make a very difficult situation some what easier. We want to thank Stacey and others
who showed our Mother kindness. We also want to thank Pastor Hoffman, Marcia Schnorr
and Ogle County Hospice for their support and care.

Survivors include her daughter: Marlene (John R.) Albrecht Sundin of Madison, WI
and Kathy Gates of Rochelle; brother: Robert H. (Marian) Jacobson of Sioux City, IA; sister and best friend: Joyce (Warren) Birkner of Sycamore, IL;

6 grandchildren: Kelly (Tim) Holt of Monona, WI, Jon S. (Tenzin) Walker, of Madison, WI, Gregory (Christine) Walker of Roscoe, IL, Jeffrey S. (Denise) Frakes of Rochelle, IL, Sheri (Jerry Herrera) Frakes of Rochelle, IL Shelly (Michael) Cascio of Winnebago, IL; 12 Great grandchildren: Casey Clark, Lindsay (Sonny) Walker-Fillingame, Cody Walker, Patrick and Ali Holt, Amber Marzano, Alyssa and Tyler Hurst, Anthony and Angelina Cascio, Natalie Fransen, and Ben (Sasha) Fransen; 3 great great grandchildren: Madyson Ranalli, Holden Liebhaber, Emerson Fransen; and many nieces and newphews.

Services will be held at Unger-Horner Funeral Home Monday, March 14, 2011 with Rev. Greg Hoffman officiating at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be prior to the service on Monday from
at 10 to 11 AM at Unger-Horner. Memorials to St. Paul Lutheran Church. Burial at Lawnridge Cemetery.
