Douglas Lee Oleson, age 67, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at the OSF St. Anthony Medical Center.  He was born in DeKalb, IL on June 17, 1955, the son of Orlo and Margaret (Irving) Oleson.  Doug was an avid reader and writer, professionally working as a sports writer. Doug especially enjoyed the time he took his father to the Chicago Cubs press box while Harry Carey was sportscasting the game.  Throughout the years, he enjoyed traveling with his family and friends, including visiting several of the Professional Baseball parks.  He was fond of his loving cat, Smokey.  Doug was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rochelle.

Preceded in death by his parents.  He is survived by his sister, Debra Oleson of Rockford, and many cousins and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1415 10th Avenue, Rochelle, with Pastor Gregory Hoffmann officiating.  Visitation will be from 10:00 am until time of service at the church.  Interment will follow at Lawnridge Cemetery.  Contributions in Doug's memory may be made directed to St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church.  Please visit www.UngerHorner.com to sign the online guestbook.
