Edith M. Gittleson, 99, of Rochelle, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, on her 99th birthday, at Rochelle Gardens. She was born on Oct. 24, 1910 in Compton, IL to Charles and Nessie (Nodine) Krahenbuhl. She married Raymond Gittleson on July 4, 1929 and they farmed together. He preceded her on Dec. 16, 1986. Edith was also preceded by daughter: Shirley Ann Johnson on Feb. 16, 2007; infant grandson: Gary Herrmann; 3 brothers: Fred, Alvin and Earl; and 4 sisters: Edith Kelly, Clara Bernardin, Della Terebessy and Gladys Longest. Memberships include the First Presbyterian Church and the Hobby Club. Edith enjoyed traveling, fishing and was a wonderful cook.

Survivors include: Grandchildren: Denny Herrmann of Rochelle, Darrell Herrmann of Steward,
Dave Herrmann of Steward and Dawn (Norm) Jenkins of Rochelle; son-in-law: Ken Johnson of Rochelle; step grandchildren: Kyle (Lisa) Johnson, Doug (Kelly) Johnson and Dorie (Mike) Golt, all of Rochelle; great grandchildren: Ali, Eric, Jennifer, Taylor, Ally, Sam and Haley.

Services at First Presbyterian Church on Thursday, Oct. 29th at 10:00 AM with Rev. John
Hamilton officiating. Visitation from 9 to 10:00 AM prior to the service at the church.
Entombment at Lawnridge Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers: Memorials to First Presbyterian Church.
