Edith Belle Karr Hepfer, age 87, Franklin Grove, IL. passed away March 21, 2008 at Neighbors Nursing Home, Byron, IL. She was born on May 9, 1920 in Meigs County, OH. the daughter of Fred J. and Mildred C. (Black) Karr. She was a graduate of Rochelle Township High School.
Edith married Charles J. Hepfer on August 28, 1946 and raised four children on a large working farm. She tended a very large garden, was an excellent seamstress, Bible scholar and historian.
She loved the Lord and all of her family dearly. Edie enjoyed entertaining her friends and neighbors and always had a coffee pot on with a plate of cookies, cinnamon toast or green fried tomatoes.
Her husband preceded her in death on Jan. 4, 1989. She was also preceded by her parents, a brother, John Martin Karr, and a granddaughter, Leanne Hayes.
Prior to retiring, Edith had been a secretary for Swift & Co. in Rochelle, Wood Brothers and Etnyre Co. both in Oregon.
Survivors include: A son Charles D. Hepfer (Marsha Benesh) of Oregon, IL, 3 daughters, Beverly (Chuck) Kearns of Oregon, IL, Joan (Lyle) Hayes of Rochelle, IL.,
and Deanna (Richard) Carter of Tucson, AZ.
10 grandchildren: William ( Diane) Nesemeier, Kristin (Ron) Camp, Kevin (Crystal) Nesemeier, David (Dina) Nesemeier, Mike (Jodi) Hayes, Sandy (Tim) Schultz,
Dana (Aaron) O'Rourke, Beth (Brett) Glendenning, Cindy (Steve) Brown, Debbie (Mike) Close, 25 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grand child.
Services will be held Wednesday March 26 at Lighthouse Community Church, 4938 So. Daysville Road. Visitation will start at 10:00 am with a celebration service beginning at 11:00 am, Rev. David Demmer officiating. Burial will be at Washington Grove Cemetery.
