Edna M. Papke, 86, passed away Friday, January 30, 2015 in Rochelle. Edna was born February 6, 1928 in Manhattan, New York City, NY to Alexander and Rena (Sciavi) Olivier. She married Frank Alfano in November of 1947, Leland Isley in February of 1963 who passed away in 2004, and then married Ralph Papke in October of 2006. Edna was a nurse's aide for Rochelle Community Hospital for several years and then worked at Swift & Co. from which she retired. After retirement, she worked years as an Avon representative. Family and friends were the most important to Edna, the more the merrier. She enjoyed sewing and knitting and spending hours teaching the grandchildren. Famous for her ravioli! She truly enjoyed traveling with her husband, Ralph. Heaven has gained a new angel.
She is predeceased by her parents, brother, Al Olivier, and sister, Gloria Mansfield.
Edna is survived by her husband, Ralph, five children: Rodney (Karen) Alfano, Debra (Paul) Mayer, Dana (Renee) Alfano, Dina (John) Bearrows and Gary Isley; 16 grandchildren: Chris (Dani) Alfano, Angie (Frank) Anderson, Alex Dodson, Matthew Dodson, Dave (Lorri) Mayer, Nicole Mayer, Sarah (Josh) Foster, Kristi (John) Gonzalez, Jen Scott (Jon), Chad Scott, Troy Scott, Julie Bearrows (Lance), Mandy Bearrows, Taylor Isley, Makenzi Isley and Lane Isley; 19 great grandchildren: Braden and Ella Alfano, Paige Meyer, Courtney and Brooke Dodson, Amber (Matt) Wittenauer and Ali (Jeremy) Bagg, Alex, Ben and Natalie Foster, Jaelyn Gonzalez, Gabe and Alex Neece, Jorden Lee, Marisa and Dylan Whaley and Taylor, Hailey and Jonathan Bearrows; two great great grandchildren: Hayden Bagg, Autumn Wittenauer; five step-children: Christine (David Kuhn) Myroth, Nancy Heine, Steven (Patricia) Papke, Ross (Beth) Papke and Mark Papke and 13 step-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be 10:00 A.M., Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Faith Lutheran Church, 14206 E. Flagg Rd, Rochelle with Pastor Joy Alsop officiating. The visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 4 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. The burial will follow the service at Trinity Memory Gardens in Rochelle. A memorial has been established.
